Editing Progress

The editing process is still on-going and we have made some more progress on the sequence. So far we have focused on the beginning of the sequence and we also started to fill in the end as well.

The shots at the end of the sequence are the edited shots that we created during the first editing session and will be put into the sequence at a later. We decided to include both artistic and lip-syncing shots but have decided to focus more on lip-syncing at the moment and then adding the artistic shots. We will continue to edit until we meet our deadline for the first screening.

Editing

As we have collected all of the shots we wanted for our music video we are are ready to start the editing process. We started by editing some effects onto the shots but decided later on that we wanted to edit the sequence in a rough sequence before we add all of the effects onto the shots.

Some of the effects that we put onto the sequence include a lens flare effect over the footage to give it a dream-like effect:

This adds to the theme of our character being in purgatory (a unreal, dream-like state) that will be present throughout our video. We also played around with the three-way colour corrector as some of our shots were brighter than others. We decided to make it a faint green colour for now but this will likely be changed after we have edited the order of the video.

We will continue to edit the sequence over the few weeks to meet our deadline for our screening and we hope to start adding more effects similar to the ones above.

Forest Shoot #3

For our last shoot on location we had to make sure that we collected as many shots as we possibly could so we would have a lot of choice when the editing process begins. To show the footage in screenshot a quick 30 second powtoons has been made to show off the clips but only in screenshot form to not give to much away:

(IF THE POWTOONS IS NOT WORKING PLEASE USE THE LINK BELOW)

We hope to start the editing process within the next week so we can meet our first draft deadline. We have discussed as a group the best ways to edit the sequence will on our shoot which should make the process a lot easier.

Re-Filming With The Canon XF100

We recently decided to re-film some of the drama room scenes with a Canon XF100 camera to get some more expressive shots. We were pleased with the results as the camera quality made the shots more impressive and will bring up the overall look of our video. The image below is a screenshot taken from a piece of lip-syncing, it shows the dust particles in the air which makes the shot seem less empty and have a cool effect to it without having to edit it in:

The next image is a screenshot of a piece of footage that contained lens flare. The camera turned a typically yellow/white lens flare into a beautiful blue and green which will look great when added into the sequence. The lens flare also brings out the character a bit more or turns her into a silhouette that can be picked up by the camera which is something that we were aiming for when filming.

Overall we were all really pleased with these shots and cannot wait to film more with the camera and add these particular shots to our sequence when we start to edit.

Risk Assessment: Drama Room - Canon XF100

As we have decided to re-film certain scenes in the drama room with the Canon XF100 camera we have to write another risk assessment. We have to use the camera carefully as well as keeping all of the other risks in mind as well. This is likely our last shoot in the drama room so we had to make sure that we got all the shots we needed so we needed a more detailed risk assessment as we have more expensive equipment that we will be using for a long period of time.
